Hahahaha, OH MAN I really like the pun!
My philosophy on naming animals has basically been the reverse version of Call a Rabbit a Smeerp -- despite these clearly not being normal animals, they all have pretty normal animal names. That crazy thing with all the tentacles at the beginning of the chapter is just called an "elephant."
I joke a lot that Varænskis are the most uncreative namers, but really it's how we've always named stuff, and I don't think that'd change if we ended up in a fantasy world. xD It's a sea creature shaped like a star? Okay, starfish. It's got stripes and lives in Tasmania? Tasmanian Tiger. It's not even feline? WHY WOULD THAT EVEN MATTER? It looks absolutely nothing like a panda bear, and isn't a bear, but also lives in China and eats bamboo? Red Panda. We're done here.
They travel in packs and glow? Okay, I don't care if they're sapient, have their own name for themselves, and aren't even canine. Moon Wolf. Bam.

Travel in packs and glow?
Well, I guess Moon Wolf has more cachet than Cigarette Butt.
Call a Smeerp a Rabbit. The anti-trope!
I think that is what you get when you cross an antelope with a Push-me-Pull-you.

I spat all over my screen. I wasn't even drinking anything. Hope you're happy now, you laugh-inducing machine. >:I

You've got to admit though that moon wolves do look like wolves - well as far as I'm concerned.

"i am big!"
Love it!
A vet could really charge the big bucks if he was a animal-thought-listener.
Of course, a horse-whisperer might say that most animals broadcast what they are thinking much the way Hache does in the bottom panels, so hearing their thoughts would be superfluous.
I am a bit surprised it is called a jackrabbit, since the only rabbit-ish thing is his head. But names are like that - often a silly not quite accurate term is what sticks.
It is flightless, like an ostrich?
Anyway, I vote you change its name to "mbuni".
Kind of a pun. Sounds like bunny, but means ostrich, if google translate Swahili is to be believed...
( Don't worry, I know this isn't a democracy. ;) )
Finally, about the actual comic: El Turbano doesn't seem malicious to me. Many guys will go out of their way to help a cute girl. And his relationship with Hache is a good indication of his personality. But only time will tell for certain...
