Ooooh Xira has an agendaaaaa. I wonder who he's talking to.

And actually this does raise the question of how far away can Xira be from someone and still use his magic. Is this someone on the other side of the city somehow keeping track of what he's doing through their powers, or are they just hiding in the crowd and can just see what's going on?

And JONAN METTATON I AM SLAIN

Also, I wonder if reading Tareth's mind is different than other people, since she's deaf. Like, would reading her mind be based more around images or writing than spoken language.

On the other hand though, Xira didn't realise anything was different about her until she mentioned she couldn't hear, so I guess there couldn't have been anything obviously unusual about her mental "voice"

What Xira's picking up when he reads minds isn't based in spoken language, though. He isn't hearing a voice -- he's perceiving a thought. Xira's good at parsing this, but it'd probably be very confusing at first, as it isn't a sense we normally have.

If he were digging around in memories, he'd probably run across unfamiliar sensations, though!

oh, cool. Would this potentially make him emotionally more mature than average? Since he has experienced so many different things and "walked in the shoes" of so many different people?
Alternatively I guess it could turn a young witch unstable too.

I feel like those kinds of powers could make you more mature in some ways -- being able to see very directly and personally how other people feel may make you more empathetic and perceptive in general -- but it doesn't mean you know the appropriate thing to do with that information or that you respond to it in an emotionally mature way.

It would take incredible self control sometimes to keep up the front that you don't know what they're thinking- acting like you don't know someone is mentally insulting you, let alone not yelling at them/punching them in retaliation/crying.

And yes, the distance thing is the thing I'm most curious about, and whether all those extra voices from everyone around him get in the way of trying to listen to one voice in particular.
